The visual art program at P.S. 135Q is designed to encourage students creativity and enhance learning through fun and challenging art projects. Students are exposed to different art mediums and techniques throughout the year such as, drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and printmaking. The program is aligned with the NYC Blueprint For Teaching and Learning in Visual Arts. The children also develop their skills of analyzing and responding to works of art by critiquing their own work and the work of others. Grades are given based on effort and creativity rather than talent. My goal as the art teacher is to create a safe environment where students feel comfortable to explore, create, and express their own unique ideas as developing artists.
